10 photos that show flooding, devastation left from severe storms in Kentucky

Over the past several days, Kentucky has seen significant levels of rainwater, causing severe flooding across the commonwealth.

Flooding has already impacted some areas of Louisville, and the Ohio River is expected to crest at around 36 feet at the upper portion of the McAlpine Locks and Dam near the Falls of the Ohio by mid-week, rivaling levels last seen in 2018.

While areal flooding will slowly diminish Monday, river flooding will continue into the second half of April, according to the National Weather Service.

Showers will also return to the region Wednesday night through Friday, but the total rainfall amounts will be light and should not have an impact on river flooding, the NWS said.
