The azaleas are in full bloom, and while conditions may be wet Monday, the 2025 Masters is off and running with practice rounds underway ahead of the 89th playing of this premiere major championship tournament. There will be 96 golfers — including the best players in the world and a handful of top amateurs — convening at Augusta National Golf Club seeking to don a green jacket and achieve a career milestone at the most pristine course in the world.
Eyes will be firmly focused on Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy, the clear favorites entering this Masters. The reigning green jacket holder and winner of two of the last three Masters, Scheffler has not gotten off to the hottest start this season, but he is nevertheless capable of making history by conquering Augusta National yet again. The opposite is true for McIlroy, who remains a Masters victory away from completing a long-sought-after career grand slam. In the midst of an 11-year major drought, Rory makes news one way or another every time he steps foot on this hollowed ground.
