This article contains spoilers for The Masked Singer season 13, episode 10, “Merging of the Masks.”
After nine weeks of fierce Masked Singer competition, it’s all come down to this — a merging of the masks in the Lucky 6.
This meant Wednesday night’s episode featured the final six celebrities battling it out to get one step closer to the elusive Golden Mask Trophy, including masks we haven’t seen in weeks (hi, Coral and Paparazzo!). Also this week, the panelists had an opportunity to ask some rapid-fire questions to each masked contestant, and as if that wasn’t enough, they were also given a “colossal clue” to each singer’s identity.
This was done in lieu of a traditional clue package, and by far the most notable of these “colossal clues” was Boy Meets World star Danielle Fishel appearing in the flesh on stage for Paparazzo.
As far as performances go, the competition was certainly fierce: Mad Scientist Monster sang “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back” by Shawn Mendes, Nessy crooned “Stargazing” by Myles Smith, Coral rocked out to “Ain’t It Fun” by Paramore, Paparazzo jammed to “Unpretty” by TLC, Pearl brought the energy with “Conga” by Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine, and Boogie Woogie brought the house down with “Unsteady” by X Ambassadors.
In the end, somehow, someone had to be eliminated, and Paparazzo was sent back to the red carpet. Final guesses from the panel included Ben Savage (Ken Jeong‘s), Jason Ritter (Rita Ora‘s), Frankie Muniz (Robin Thicke‘s), and Matthew Lawrence (Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg‘s). The latter guess ended up being correct — Paparazzo was unmasked to reveal ’90s heartthrob actor Matthew Lawrence, known for classics such as Boy Meets World, Brotherly Love, Mrs. Doubtfire, and more.

Heading into next week’s quarterfinals, McCarthy-Wahlberg now has the most correct guesses and is on track to win yet another Golden Ear Trophy. (She has four correct, Thicke has three, Ora has two, and Jeong has one.)
Entertainment Weekly caught up with Lawrence to dish on making it further on The Masked Singer than his older brother, Joey, who also did the show; what he thought of that Ben Savage guess and his former costar’s appearance; and whether or not he’d consider doing more singing in the future.
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Be honest, did you do The Masked Singer to show up your big brother, who was the Walrus in season 8?
MATTHEW LAWRENCE: [Laughs] No! Come on, are you kidding? No. No. You don’t understand. When they called and asked me to be on the show, I was humbled and I was like, wow, that’s mad respect. But I honestly was going to say no, because I really do have a fear of singing in front of an audience. It happened a couple of times in my career where I’ve had some really bad auditions for singing Broadway type of stuff. And so I had a real stage fright with it, and then somebody close to me said, but you’re wearing a mask, like maybe this is the time to do it. And also, I’m trying to live in that space where I don’t let fear dictate my life. I say yes, not no, to things. So I was like, you know what? Look, I’m not getting any younger. I’m not going to get a lot of these opportunities anymore. Maybe this is the time to jump out of a plane and give it a shot. That’s what it was.
Does he know that you did the show? What was his reaction?
Yeah, he knows. He was like, man, I can’t believe you got to go on and sing more than I did!
You really did! To be fair, his season had a very different format than yours.
Honestly, when we were talking about it, he really did quite get an odd position there, bringing him on as a surprise, because then you’re up against somebody who people have been rooting for. It’s tough to go in there into a home where somebody’s developed an audience and try to dethrone them. That’s not easy because it’s not always about the performance or the singing. It has a lot to do with these characters and things, too.
A big clue to your identity happened in this last episode, with Danielle Fishel coming on stage…
And I didn’t know, by the way, I just found this out. I’ve got to call her after these interviews now. Crazy.

I was going to ask if you knew she was doing that or if she knew it was you she was doing it for.
No, I got to call her immediately. I’ve had zero — guys, they lock you down on this show, let me tell you. You don’t have any idea what’s going on. So yeah, I can’t wait actually. Good reason to reach out, say hello.
Maybe convince her to do the show next!
She should absolutely do the show. Yeah, she’d be a blast. She’d be great.
So, because of Danielle, Ken guessed that you were a different Boy Meets World star, Ben Savage. What did you think of that guess?
Oh, I loved that. I loved it. I think it was kind of a little bit obvious that I was who I was, or at least I thought it was. I mean, these clues are really good. I like the anonymity. That was what I was feeding off of. But I love that he guessed Ben, because I love Ben and we’ve got a great relationship, so yeah.
What did you take away from your Masked Singer experience?
Personally, I thought some of the crew were awesome. In particular, this one producer I was working with, he was great. I’ll take that friendship away with me. Also, I had this moment when I was singing a song, just one moment, literally out of all the performances, I had one moment during the “Hallelujah” performance on “Shrek Night,” where I was actually just singing. I just got lost, and I was singing, and that just was lightning in a bottle for me. So I’ll take that with me forever.
Do you think you’ll sing more now?
I will definitely not say no anymore. I will definitely go after and say yes and try to do my best at it. Yeah, for sure.
You should. I’m only sorry that we didn’t get a little more time with Paparazzo.
Only the good die young.
