Florence Pugh has been experimenting with the sheer and “naked dress” trend for years now. From Valentino alone she’s worn a daring hot pink tulle gown baring her chest, a sparkly sheer set with a crop top and pants, and a lavender tulle halter gown with a plunging neckline. If a designer look has some tulle or lace in it, you can bet she’s thought about wearing it.

For the Thunderbolts* London Premiere, the actor opted for an Elie Saab Fall 2024 black couture gown that offered hints of skin through semi-sheer black lace—a peak at her stomach, a glimpse of her legs and waist. The bodice was adorned with 3D black flowers and intricate beading embroidery, with black stripes accentuating its structure. On the sides, the sheer skirt flared out, creating a voluminous train. The dress was so showstopping that Pugh’s black strappy heels almost blended in with it.
For her accessories and beauty look, Pugh went punk. She wore Ara Vartanian jewelry including a black diamond three-finger ring and two-in-each-ear black diamond drop earrings. Her hair was fiercely slicked back and she had on a swipe of bright orange makeup across her eyelids.
On her Instagram before the premiere, Pugh joked, “Racing around town as fast as my clackers can go ✅ , hair is constantly flapping in face ✅ , consumed too much coffee my heart might just actually start rolling around like a pinball ✅ .”

The Don’t Worry Darling star has previously said that yes, she is comfortable in her body, and she will not take any negativity regarding her sheer, “free the nipple” looks. “Why are you so scared of my breasts?” she wrote on Instagram in 2022.
She also spoke to Harper’s Bazaar U.K. this May about dressing for the red carpet. “It wasn’t until I realized I could have fun, and that other people enjoyed watching me having fun, that I could relax,” she said.
