Evacuations and fire warnings still in place across Oklahoma after wildfire outbreak

Some of the major fires were in Mannford, Stillwater, Guthrie, Leedey, Norman, Oklahoma City and Little Axe. A state of emergency has been declared for Payne County and the city of Stillwater. The area was one of the hardest hit places statewide, prompting hundreds of people to evacuate their homes as fires moved quickly through Payne County. Power OutagesThe winds knocked down numerous power poles and caused thousands of Oklahomans to be without electricity on Friday. In some areas, wind gusts reached more than 70 mph. As of Saturday morning, PowerOutage.US reports that more than 15,000 customers are still without power. OG&E’s System Watch also reports that more than 12,000 customers don’t have power. At its peak, around 80,000 customers in Oklahoma did not have power on Friday. Crews have been working around the clock to restore power throughout the state. Damage

Gov. Kevin Stitt’s Response

Power Outages
The winds knocked down numerous power poles and caused thousands of Oklahomans to be without electricity on Friday. In some areas, wind gusts reached more than 70 mph.
As of Saturday morning, PowerOutage.US reports that more than 15,000 customers are still without power. OG&E’s System Watch also reports that more than 12,000 customers don’t have power.
