BAKERSFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – Three people have died after a potential tornado hit Bakersfield in Ozark County Friday night.
The storm hit the Bakersfield community near the Howell and Ozark County lines around 8:30 p.m. and damaged homes and businesses in the area. The National Weather Service radar indicated the storm was a tornado, but it has not been confirmed as such.
According to Ozark County Sheriff Cass Martin, those who died were Tammy Zastrow, Dana Ray Morris, and Erika Ryan.
The storm knocked down several trees and powerlines. The blocked roads made it difficult for first responders to get to the damaged areas. Troopers say many of the homes were total losses.
The statewide deaths include:
- 3 Deaths in Ozark County (sheriff confirmed 3rd death after Missouri Highway Patrol)
- 1 Death in Butler County
- 6 Deaths in Wayne County
- 1 Death in Jefferson County
