Former WVIR meteorologist Josh Fitzpatrick has been charged with felony sexual extortion and unlawful creation of image of another.

Fitzpatrick left the Charlottesville, Virginia NBC station in early March. He was arrested on Tuesday in Ohio on a fugitive warrant.

“Investigators learned that Fitzpatrick had relocated to Ohio shortly after the investigation began,” according to an Albemarle County Police news release. “With the assistance of Ohio law enforcement, Fitzpatrick was arrested on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. He is currently being held in Ohio awaiting extradition to Virginia.”

Police said they think there may be more victims and encourage anyone who may have had an encounter with Fitzpatrick to contact the department’s Criminal Investigations Division at 434-296-5807.
