Two of the biggest names in toys and gaming are about to collide as Lego is releasing Pokémon sets for the first time.
While details are still under wraps, the partnership is poised to finally bring Pikachu and pals to brick form, allowing fans to build and display their favourite critters and trainers.
Lego teased the collaboration with an image featuring the Lego and Pokémon logos alongside a yellow brick shaped like Pikachu’s renowned lightning bolt tail.
It’s safe to say the franchise’s adorable yellow mascot — who first appeared in Pokémon Red and Blue back in 1996 — will be a central focus of the new collaboration.
And with more than 1,000 Pokémon in the National Pokédex database, Lego has no shortage of options for future sets.
Lego Pokémon will land in 2026, according to the Lego Group.
Julia Goldin, Chief Product and Marketing Officer at Lego, said: “We’re excited to partner with a brand that has such a passionate fanbase, bringing them what they’ve been asking for through the limitless creativity of Lego play.”
Gaku Susai, Chief Product and Experience Officer at the Pokémon Company, added: “This partnership is a perfect match, combining our shared values of creativity and fun, and we’re eager to see the reactions of both Lego and Pokémon fans in 2026.”
Lego has been pumping out gaming-themed sets with Nintendo for several years.
We’ve already seen Super Mario and the gang turned into blocky mini-figures, with sets ranging from £13 to upwards of £100. As part of its ongoing collaboration with Nintendo, Lego recently released a series based on the chaotic racer Mario Kart.
Of course, Lego has also produced many of its own games, most memorably based on the Star Wars series. It launched Lego Fortnite last year, a mini-game series and new modes for the smash-hit online game.
It’s turning out to be a big year for Pokémon, with a new game slated for release later this year in Pokémon Legends Z-A, which should launch on Nintendo’s upcoming console, the Switch 2.
News of the Lego collab comes on the heels of Pokémon Day, the annual celebration of all things Pokémon, which was packed with huge announcements, game updates and free giveaways.
