A good week is getting even better for Taylor Hall.
After eliminating New Jersey Devils on Tuesday night, Hall signed a three-year, $9.5 million extension with the Hurricanes on Wednesday morning. The new deal will pay the former No. 1 overall pick an average of $3.17 million per season.
“Taylor has proven to be an outstanding fit for our team, and we are thrilled that he is excited to make Raleigh his home for another three seasons,” Hurricanes general manager Eric Tulsky said in a statement. “He’s been a solid veteran presence in the locker room and a difference maker on the ice.”
Acquired in a trade with the Blackhawks earlier this season, Hall scored nine goals and nine assists in 31 regular season games with the Hurricanes. In Carolina’s first round defeat of the Devils, he added a goal and two assists.
The No. 1 overall pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, Hall’s career began with the Oilers and has been a bit nomadic. The Hurricanes are the seventh team he’s suited up for.
Hall won the MVP award with New Jersey in 2017-18 and spent a productive three seasons with the Bruins (2021-23), registering 111 points (44 goals, 67 assists) in 157 games with Boston, but was traded to Chicago amidst a salary cap crunch after the 2022-23 season.
