(CNN) – Actress Priscilla Pointer has died at the age of 100, according to her daughter Amy Irving.
Oscar-nominated Irving wrote on Instagram that her mother “died peacefully in her sleep … hopefully to run off with her two adoring husbands and her many dogs.”

Pointer’s career spanned six decades.
She was best known for playing formidable mothers in the TV series “Dallas” and in the 1976 horror classic “Carrie.”
Irving played Sue Snell, one of Carrie’s bullies, and Pointer played Sue’s mother.
