Jeffrey Sperbeck, the longtime agent of former Denver Broncos quarterback John Elway, died Wednesday days after he fell off a golf cart in California. He was 62.
The incident happened Saturday night in La Quinta, California, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office said.
According to NBC affiliate KUSA of Denver, Sperbeck was at the Madison Club, a private golf resort community where Elway owns a home. A person who answered the phone at the club on Wednesday declined to answer questions and directed NBC News to send the club an email.
Elway has not publicly commented on the death of Sperbeck, who was also a close friend and business partner to the NFL legend, according to KUSA.
The Riverside Sheriff’s Office said it was informed of the incident Monday and opened an investigation.
