SANTA ROSA BEACH — A three-time championship motocross racer was arrested in Santa Rosa Beach on March 21, charged with street racing/stunt driving.
According to an arrest report from the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, Haiden Deegan, 19, was arrested after allegedly performing donuts in a sports car at the Walton Sports Complex parking lot.
The arresting deputy reported hearing the sound of squealing tires and revving engines while on patrol. Upon investigating, he observed four vehicles in the sports complex’s front parking lot, while other cars in the area appeared to belong to patrons using the pickleball courts.
According to the arrest report, law enforcement officers saw a gray Audi R8 with illuminated brake lights release its brakes and accelerate west before executing a full rotation in the lane leading to the pickleball courts. The deputy activated his patrol vehicle’s emergency lights and siren, at which point the driver allegedly completed another rotation before parking.
Another deputy, off duty at the time, also witnessed the incident and detained the driver, Haiden Deegan. While in the patrol vehicle, Deegan allegedly said, “We were all drifting,” according to the report.
Deegan was arrested and a traffic citation was issued.
Deegan was transported to the South Walton Substation before being transferred to the Walton County Jail. The Audi R8 was towed and placed on a 30-day hold.
On Saturday morning, Deegan posted a $1,000 bail/professional bond. After the incident, Deegan posted the booking history on his Instagram stories page, which disappeared 24 hours after posting. In the post, he called himself a “certified stunt driver” with a laughing emoji.
