The quarterback market has seen the majority of the big names available find new homes this offseason, but could a new name be up for grabs? Rumors have begun floating around on Wednesday suggesting that the Dallas Cowboys and Cleveland Browns are discussing a trade involving Dak Prescott.
The Cowboys endured a miserable 2024 campaign, finishing with a 7-10 record, which was due in large part to the fact that Prescott played in only eight games before suffering a season-ending hamstring injury. Amid a fairly quiet offseason, a shocking rumor emerged suggesting that the team was looking to move Prescott to Cleveland.
“Part of the reason Myles Garrett was so willing to sign this extension for his contract, yeah, money, money, money … The Browns are negotiating as we speak with the Dallas Cowboys for a trade for Dak Prescott,” Bruce Dennan said on “Bonus Time with Bruce Dennan.”

The Browns certainly need some help at quarterback, as they missed out on several of the top options available and will likely be without Deshaun Watson for the entire 2025 campaign after he re-ruptured his Achilles. However, these reports suggesting a trade for Prescott was on the horizon were quickly shot down.

“I run it all down when working this beat and the Dallas Cowboys are NOT working on trading Dak to the Browns. In fact, texts with two sources tell me ‘fake news’ and ‘absolutely not’ before this gets any sort of wheels,” Jane Slater of NFL Network shared in a post on X.
Prescott threw for 1,978 yards and 11 touchdowns in eight games last season before suffering his aforementioned injury. He signed a massive four-year, $240 million contract extension with the Cowboys last offseason that would make any trade involving him quite complicated for all parties involved.
