Happy Opening Day, Giants fans!
The San Francisco Giants open their 2025 season on the road today against the Cincinnati Reds.
Taking the mound for the Giants will be their right-handed ace, Logan Webb, who is entering his seventh season in the majors. He finished the 2024 season with a 3.47 ERA and 2.95 FIP over 33 starts, finishing sixth in Cy Young Award voting. Webb allowed 202 hits and 50 walks, striking out 172 over 204.2 innings pitched.
He’ll be facing off against Reds’ right-hander Hunter Greene, beginning his fourth season in the majors. He ended the 2024 season with a 2.75 ERA, 3.47 FIP, and came in eighth in Cy Young Award voting, so we should have a pretty good match-up today. In his 2024 season, Greene allowed 96 hits and 57 walks with 169 strikeouts in 150.1 innings pitched and 26 starts.
