The Kings ended the regular season with an impressive 109-98 victory over the Phoenix Suns on Sunday, marking the fourth win in their last six games. However, they had won only four of 15 games before that. The Kings could have earned a higher seed, but their inconsistency put them in this position. With Domantas Sabonis and DeMar DeRozan finishing the regular season averaging 19.1 and 22.2 points per game, respectively, Sacramento finished inside the Top 10 in scoring, averaging 115.7 points per game.

It has been an unusual season for the Mavericks, especially after trading All-Star Luka Doncic to the Lakers in a shocking turn of events. While the franchise got Anthony Davis in return, he has spent a large chunk of his time on the Dallas bench due to injuries. Kyrie Irving has also been sidelined with injuries, and his absence has been felt. The effect of this trade will linger on for some time, especially if the Lakers make a deep run.

Depending on how the Mavericks do and how deep the Lakers run is this postseason, that trade decision will continue to linger.

The winner of this game will face the Memphis Grizzlies on the road. The Grizzlies are coming off a loss to the Warriors, with the winner of that game set to begin the NBA playoffs on Sunday in Oklahoma City as the No. 8 seed.

The Kings swept the season series against the Mavericks 3-0, with the most recent win coming last month in a 122-98 blowout win.
