Things to know about the Final Four free music festival on Sunday

Music festival season is here. San Antonio is having its very own for free. Major artists, like Grammy Award-winners Doechii, Pitbull and Chris Stapleton, will be performing at the free March Madness Music Festival in San Antonio from April 4-6.

Yes, it’s free, but expect crowds as the Men’s Final Four weekend is expected to attract over 100,000 visitors. The three-day festival will be located at Tower Park at Hemisfair in downtown San Antonio, jam-packed with musical artists, fan experiences and sponsored activities. Here’s everything to expect on Sunday, April 6:

  • 2:30 p.m.: Gates open
  • 3:15 p.m.: Country duo Brothers Osborne, known for “It Ain’t My Fault,” will open the day.
  • 5 p.m.: Benson Boone, known for his single “Beautiful Things,” will hit the stage.
  • 6:45 p.m.: Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, known for “S.O.B” and “Hey Mama,” will perform.
  • 8:45 p.m.: Chris Stapleton, who has a hit song called “Tennessee Whiskey” and “Broken Halos,” will headline the night.
  • 10:30 p.m.: Event concludes.

The March Madness Music Festival is a free music festival for all ages. Fans may start lining up at 7 a.m. the morning of each festival event day. The festival does not allow overnight camping. It is operating on at first-come, first-served basis until capacity is reached.

Fans can line up at the designated fan entries located at the West Entry of Tower Park at Hemisfair at the Base of the Tower of Americas and at the East Entry of Tower Park at Hemisfair near the rear of the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. 

On Sunday, April 6, Capital One Cardholders and one guest can enter first once the doors open. To take advantage of this expedited entry, fans can enter AT&T Block Party via the East Entry, located on the east side of Tower Park at Hemisfair (801 E Cesar Chavez) before 4:30 p.m. You can gain access one hour before the gate opens. 

Existing Capital One Cardholders must show a physical Capital One Visa or Mastercard bank or credit card to access the Priority Queue Lane. Digital cards and private label cards are not valid for this promotion.

Parking will be limited. Organizers recommend public transportation, biking, walking, or utilizing a Rideshare app. Public parking will be available in various downtown lots and garages, consider the Hemisfair Garage (623 Hemisfair Blvd) or or explore the S. Alamo St. Lot (622 E. Market St.).

Bags larger than 5.5″ by 8.5″ are prohibited. Clear, plastic bags up to 12″x6″x12″ are permitted. Remember all bags are subject to be searched.

You can bring hats, sunglasses, sunscreen (no aerosol), a factory-sealed bottle of water (20 ounces or fewer, an empty refillable bottle and a phone charging case. You cannot bring animals, artificial noisemakers, cameras with professional lenses, folding chairs, e-cigarettes or vapes, outside food or beverages, illegal substances, signs, banners, selfie-sticks and laser pointers. 

The festival will take place rain or shine.

There will be food and drinks available at local food trucks or concession stands. There will also be a Pizza Hut Mobile Kitchen available for purchase.

The festival is cashless. Don’t forget to bring your debit or credit cards. Apple Pay and similar payment methods will be accepted.
