Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson was ruled out for the IPL 2025 match against Lucknow Super Giants in the side’s home match at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Saturday. Riyan Parag will lead the Royals.
Samson experienced a bit of pain in the abdominal area during its previous game against Delhi Capitals and underwent scans.
He was batting on 31 off 19 balls, scoring two fours and three sixes, when his niggle forced the batter to retire hurt. DC went on to win the match in the edition’s first Super Over.
So far in the ongoing season, the Kerala batter has scored 224 runs in seven matches, averaging 37.33 and striking at over 140. He has scored one half-century so far.
For RR’s first three matches of the season, Samson was not allowed to keep wickets after the India international had fractured his right index finger, requiring surgery. This led the franchise to appoint Riyan as stand-in skipper.
