During WWE’s Countdown to WrestleMania 41 broadcast, the company announced their acquisition of Mexican wrestling promotion Lucha Libre AAA World Wide.
Paul “Triple H” Levesque and Michael Cole were joined by AAA owners Marisela Pena and Dorian Roldan in making the announcement, along with Legado del Fantasma, Stephanie Vaquer, the LWO, Rey Fenix, Penta, and El Hijo del Vikingo.
WWE also announced a collaborative event with AAA as Worlds Collide comes to the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California on June 7.
The event comes over thirty years after AAA partnered with WCW for the 1994 event When Worlds Collide from the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena, and nearly as long after WWE’s previous partnership with AAA saw a number of luchadors participating in the 1997 Royal Rumble from the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
