During Friday Night SmackDown this week, Rey Mysterio appeared to suffer an injury, as folks filming in the building witnessed him being helped to the back after a six-man tag team match. The timing couldn’t be worse, considering WrestleMania 41 gets underway tonight (Sat., April 19, 2025) at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, and he was scheduled to wrestle El Grande Americano.

I say “was” because he confirmed during the “Countdown” show that he is not medically cleared to compete and will be replaced in the match by none other than Rey Fenix:

It would seemed to have made more sense to throw Dragon Lee in that spot, considering the LWO connection, but they’re pushing Fenix hard in his first stint with WWE. This should set the stage for him to pick up what will be the biggest win of his young career here.
