American Susannah Scaroni won her second Boston Marathon title on Monday with an unofficial time of 1:35:20. She was part of a pack of several athletes early in the race, but pulled away as the marathon went on and won comfortably.

10:03 AM The 2025 Boston Marathon had a special guest at the finish line Monday morning, long before the professional runners and wheelchair racers reached Boston.

First Sgt. Matthew Johnson of the National Lancers, dressed as Paul Revere, rode down down Boylston Street on a horse to the finish line, while shouting “the runners are coming, the runners are coming.”

There was a slight bit of confusion as the horse stopped at the finish line and would not cross it. Johnson got off the horse, read a declaration and then eventually walked over the line with his horse.

9:07 AM The 2025 Boston Marathon marked the 50th anniversary of the first official wheelchair athlete in the race.

Back in 1975, 23-year-old Bob Hall completed the course in 2 hours and 58 minutes. He had received permission from the race director to compete using a wheelchair.

The makeshift racing chair Hall used bears little resemblance to today’s high-tech equipment.

“I cut off the back real low. I angled the wheels,” Hall told CBS News.

Jordan said he’s going to try not to burn out too early in the race, but knows it’ll be a challenge not to.

“Just the energy. The people. I’ve never been in a race this big,” he said, adding that he had a special message. “I just want to say hi mom. I wish you could be here. We’ll be thinking about you,” said.
