COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) -An American Airlines plane caught fire at the gate at the Denver International Airport.

The FAA is reporting that the crew on flight 1006 reported engine vibrations while on their way to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.

After landing and while taxiing to the gate one of the engines reportedly caught fire. Passengers had to use the airplane slides and stand on the wings to escape the smoke.

There were 172 passengers on board and six crew members, they were taken to the terminal after exiting the plane.

An investigation is underway into what happened.
