Warriors vs. Kings injury report: Jonathan Kuminga expected to return, Brandin Podziemski stays out

The Golden State Warriors are hosting the Sacramento Kings tonight, and a fair amount is at stake. The Dubs can further distance themselves from their Northern California rivals, and also achieve a six-game winning streak, which would be their longest of the season. And most importantly, they can stay ahead of the Minnesota Timberwolves in the fight for the sixth seed, while a loss would push the Dubs back into the play-in tournament seeding.

Thankfully, the Warriors are getting an important reinforcement ahead of the game. Here’s the full injury report for Thursday night’s game, which takes place at 7:00 p.m. PT on TNT.

Warriors

Out — Brandin Podziemski (bilateral low back strain)

Podziemski is essentially missing his fourth consecutive game, after leaving just 44 seconds into last week’s win over the Brooklyn Nets. It seems like the injury isn’t too serious, but backs are scare things. Hopefully Podz is back soon.

Probable — Jonathan Kuminga (right ankle sprain)

At long last … hopefully. After missing 31 consecutive games, the Warriors finally announced that Kuminga was likely to return against the Kings. He’ll still test his ankle at game time before getting the final green light, but it sure looks like we’ll finally see JK back on the court.

Available — Gary Payton II (bilateral nasal bone fracture — facemask)

More masked Payton! He’s been playing excellently since donning the superhero mask.

Kings

Questionable — Domantas Sabonis (left hamstring strain)

You can bet that Sabonis has no interest in missing a game against Draymond Green and the Warriors, so if I had to bet, he’ll be playing. But his hamstring injury may have its own plans.

Questionable — Trey Lyles (left leg soreness)

Lyles doesn’t play a ton, but he has a key role off of Sacramento’s bench. They’ll feel his absence if he’s unable to play.

Enjoy the action, Dub Nation!
