Adam Sandler Gets Back Into the Swing of Things in Star-Studded Happy Gilmore 2 Trailer: Watch

Adam Sandler is dusting off his golf clubs and reviving his beloved Happy Gilmore character.

On Tuesday, March 18, Netflix debuted a new teaser trailer for Happy Gilmore 2, which sees Sandler, 58, reprise his role from 1996’s Happy Gilmore, Boston Bruins jersey and all. His nemesis Shooter McGavin (Christopher McDonald) is back too, as is his love interest Virginia (Julie Bowen).

The cast also includes Ben Stiller, Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio (Bad Bunny), John Daly, Sadie Sandler, Sunny Sandler, Conor Sherry, Ethan Cutkosky, Philip Fine Schneider, Maxwell Jacob Friedman, Travis Kelce, Blake Clark, Justin Thomas, Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Bryson DeChambeau and Paige Spiranic.

An official logline shared by Netflix says only: “Happy Gilmore returns!”

On Instagram, Sandler wrote alongside the new trailer, “Hope you all have fun and thanks for all the great times.”

Enthusiasm for the upcoming Happy Gilmore sequel has been building since March 2024, when McDonald, 69, first let slip that Sandler was writing a script for the movie. Netflix then announced that Sandler would revisit his iconic character in May 2024. He co-wrote the movie with frequent collaborator Tim Herlihy, and it is directed by Murder Mystery‘s Kyle Newacheck.

A tease for the upcoming movie Netflix and Sandler shared on Christmas Day previously gave fans their first look at an acrimonious reunion between Happy and Shooter. Other actors and celebrities who reportedly appear in the movie include Margaret Qualley, Nick Swardson, Scott Mescudi (Kid Cudi), Benny Safdie, Eminem and sports media personality Dan Patrick.

“We’ve got a lot of good s— — I mean good stuff — and we just want to make sure that it all comes together and keeps it going from start to finish, and that’s the goal,” Sandler said of filming the movie during a Dec. 6 interview on The Dan Patrick Show. “We’ll see. We’re definitely nervous, but we feel some sort of confidence.”

Happy Gilmore 2 is on Netflix July 25.
