Amanda Anisimova responds to Mirra Andreeva’s accusation of gamesmanship on Instagram | Tennis.com

Amanda Anisimova chose not to take the high road after her mid-match disagreement with Mirra Andreeva in Miami.

Instead, she took the middle one.

With Andreeva serving at deuce while trailing 3-1 in the third set on Sunday night, Anisimova stopped play and called for the trainer with a blister. While typically not done in the middle of a game, a medical timeout is permitted at any time to treat an immediate issue. Andreeva was nonetheless stunned.

“I can if it’s acute,” Anisimova said to Andreeva, who had won her last 13 matches and two tournaments, as they walked toward the chair umpire. The umpire then told Anisimova to sit while she talked to Andreeva,

“We all know why,” Andreeva said to the chair umpire, implying that Anisimova was trying to break her rhythm.
