Monday marked the end of an era at NFL Network as Peter Schrager said goodbye to “Good Morning Football.”
Schrager has been a co-host since “Good Morning Football” debuted in 2016. According to The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand, Schrager is positioned to take an NFL-centric role at ESPN.
Schrager acknowledged that Monday was his final show on NFL Network, noting that he was fighting back tears as he revealed the news. Schrager acknowledged reports from Marchand and other, but did not confirm where he would be going after leaving the show.
“The rumors are true. Today is my last day on ‘Good Morning Football,‘” Schrager said. “I end with great feelings. We’re going to celebrate today. I love everyone on this show. It’s all good. But this will be the last episode I will be on this program and with a heavy heart, I’m stepping away. But it’s also for good reasons and for a bright future.”
With Schrager’s departure, Kyle Brandt is the last of the four original co-hosts to stay at the program.
In 2021, former NFL wide receiver Nate Burleson was the first of the show’s four original co-hosts to depart. He now works as a co-host on “Good Morning America” and “The NFL Today.”
Kay Adams left “Good Morning Football” in 2022 after opting not to re-sign with NFL Network. She now hosts her own show, “Up & Adams” for FanDuel.
