Like his younger brother, Austin Reaves, the former University of Central Missouri star shooting guard Spencer Reaves has landed himself in the pro ranks despite having gone undrafted. Spencer Reaves, though, is off plying his wares in Germany, where he averages 13.7 points for Syntainics MBC.
Austin Reaves, meanwhile, is three years younger than Spencer (Austin is 26, while Spencer Reaves is 29) and in his fourth season not only as a player with the Lakers, but more recently as a starter. Reaves has started all 64 games he has played, including Wednesday in Indiana, and came into that game averaging career highs in points (19.7), assists (5.9) and rebounds (4.5).
Reaves entered the game on a surge individually, in part because the Lakers have been dealing with injuries elsewhere. L.A. went to Indiana on a four-game losing streak, but Reaves has averaged 26.9 points in his last seven games.

More than the streak, though, Austin Reaves took the floor against the Pacers with something more positive on his mind: He was set to be an uncle, and his family was finally founding out the sex of Spencer Reaves’ new baby.
Lakers reporter Mike Trudell explained on the Sportsnet broadcast:
“Look at Austin’s shoes. Now this is a gender reveal for Austin’s brother … You can tell, they’re pink. Austin is an uncle-to-be, I am not sure if his brother actually knew, he is playing professional basketball in Germany. But this is how they were going to find out. So, I want to say congratulations on the gender reveal for Uncle Austin here.”
Spencer Reaves then responded on Twitter/X, adding that his little brother has actually known there was a girl on the way for a while.
“Appreciate you! We didn’t know Austin would be so pumped to do this. He’s known for weeks. Maybe he got Luka on board as well with his shoes tonight,” Spencer wrote.
Luka Doncic was among the Lakers also wearing pink shoes in Indiana.
