Our Blue Jays predictions can’t knock Max Fried, but Kevin Gausman should be up to the challenge of going toe-to-toe with the Yankees ace today.

We have a busy betting slate in Major League Baseball today, including a matchup between the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium.

Kevin Gausman toes the rubber for Toronto, and he’s had a lot of success against this Yankee lineup over his career. My Blue Jays predictions expect that to continue in this game.

Blue Jays predictions for April 26

Today’s Blue Jays best bet: Gausman brings the heat to the Bronx

Kevin Gausman Over 5.5 strikeouts (-120 at BetVictor)

The New York Yankees are sending prized free-agent pitcher Max Fried and his 5-0 record to the mound. The Toronto Blue Jays are countering with their own ace in Kevin Gausman, who has enjoyed a lot of success against these division rivals since arriving in Toronto.

Over Gausman’s last 10 outings against New York, he’s averaging 6.5 strikeouts per game, which is a full strikeout more than today’s prop total.

Those numbers are pretty on par with his career averages over the last five years, where he’s averaged 6.54 strikeouts per start. That same success has carried into this season with 22 combined strikeouts over his last three outings.

Furthermore, the Yankees are striking out a lot this season. New York is averaging 9.5 strikeouts per game, the third-highest strikeout rate (24.7%) in the majors. Therefore, this matchup is very favorable for Gausman tonight as he looks to continue mowing down batters.

Additionally, Gausman’s strikeout rate against this current Yankees lineup is a whopping 34%, with esteemed Yankee slugger Aaron Judge being victimized 17 times in just 39 at-bats, a K-rate of 43.5%.

Today’s Blue Jays same-game parlay (SGP)

Kevin Gausman Over 5.5 strikeoutsUnder 8.5

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Over 0.5 hits

I fully anticipate a pitchers’ duel tonight with both teams sending their aces to the mound. I’ve already made my case for Gausman tonight, but Fried should be equally as dominant for the Yankees.

Fried has a 1.42 ERA and has allowed two earned runs or fewer in all five games. Toronto’s offense is sputtering right now, averaging 2.5 runs per game over their last six outings. I’m rolling with Under 8.5 as the second leg of my SGP.

Lastly, I’m going to continue to ride one hot bat in the Jays’ lineup, and that’s Vladimir Guerrero Jr. The Jays slugger finally hit his second home run of the season last night, and that should spark him now that we’re a month into the season. Additionally, Guerrero Jr. is 2-for-8 on Fried in his career, with one extra-base hit.
