Miami — After recording their second-largest win in franchise history, the Detroit Pistons shook off a slow start on South Beach two nights later. Wednesday night at Kaseya Center, the Pistons battled back to take a 116-113 win over the Miami Heat.
Cade Cunningham posted his ninth triple-double of the season with 25 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists. With 0.6 seconds left, Cunningham scored the game-winning triple to cap the Pistons’ comeback win. Jalen Duren posted a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds. Malik Beasley shot 5-of-9 from deep for 16 points off the bench.
The Pistons battled back from an eight-point deficit in the fourth quarter and came within one point on four separate occasions. The latest occurrence was at the 3:40 mark of the period when Ausar Thompson’s layup brought Detroit within 109-108.

After picking up their play on the defensive end, Duren’s follow-up dunk on Cunningham’s missed shot gave Detroit a 110-109 lead. However, Miami regained the lead on Tyler Herro’s 3-point field goal. But on Detroit’s next possession, Cunningham gave the Pistons a 113-111 lead. Herro then drew a foul on Duren and nailed two foul shots to tie the game at 113 with five seconds left on the game clock, setting up Cunningham’s winner.
The Pistons had no answer for Bam Adebayo, who had one of his best performances of the season. He scored a game-best 30 points to go along with nine rebounds. Herro added 29 points as Miami dropped their ninth consecutive game.
The Pistons improve to 39-31 and 2-0 on their current three-game road trip, following Monday’s 127-81 thrashing of New Orleans.

The Pistons will end their three-game trip on Friday with an interconference match against the Dallas Mavericks. They will return to Little Caesars Arena on Sunday for a game against the New Orleans Pelicans, which will begin a three-game homestand. Tip-off against the Mavericks is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. at American Airlines Center.
