The Chicago Bulls have spent the last few seasons wondering around mediocre-ville. In fact, you could argue they were the face of mediocrity in the NBA. However, this season, the Bulls picked a direction and have leaned into a youth movement more than ever before.
On Saturday, they continued to show that was a step in the right direction and they have found a solid footing foundation to build around.
In a 146-105 runaway win over the Los Angeles Lakers, the Chicago Bulls saw all of its key young pieces turn in impressive games.
This includes No. 11 overall pick Matas Buzelis who turned in a career-high 31 points, two rebounds, an assist and a steal on 66% shooting from the floor, 5-for-10 from beyond the arc and 2-for-2 at the charity stripe.
Buzelis was lethal in this game for the Bulls, his cutting skills were rewarded by Josh Giddey and he was a great catch-and-shoot options off the ball as well just fitting around this Chicago offense.
When you couple Buzelis performance with Giddey’s jaw-dropping 15 points, 17 assists, 10 rebounds and eight steals against just two turnovers while shooting 45% from the floor, 50% from beyond the arc and 4-for-6 at the charity stripe –– along with Coby White’s 36 points, three rebounds, two assists and as many steals while shooting an eye-popping 70% from the floor; you see the vision of a talent young team in the Windy City.
Chicago has won seven of its last ten games, with two straight wins on its resume to sit as the No. 9 seed in the Eastern Conference. Long-term, things are coming together for the Bulls.
