All offseason, the focus for the Kansas City Chiefs was to fix the offensive line, with mock drafts mostly having the AFC Champs taking a lineman.
And when it came to No. 32, the Chiefs, as expected, selected a lineman, with Ohio State’s Josh Simmons being selected.

Coming off a torn patellar tendon injury, Simmons wasn’t a sure thing to go as high as he did, but Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has no concerns about his new left tackle and his ability to participate in the offseason program.
It’s just a matter of when.
“Josh, we felt was a phenomenal athlete, would have been a higher pick if he hadn’t been hurt,” Reid said. “He’s in a good place, he had a patellar tendon injury to his left knee, and it’s healed well. He’s gone through all the rechecks that he’s been required to do, and we’ll just see where it goes from there. Whether he does a rookie mini camp or not, we’ll see once he gets here, what he can do there, but he’s done well, those are normally six-month or so injuries, and he’s right about that time out, so from being injured.”

So all the medical testing has checked out, which for most was the first big thing to tick off, and with Simmons coming into Patrick Mahomes’ offensive line, the next question is what this means for the newly signed Jaylon Moore.

Signed in free agency, Moore is the starter as things stand today, but we imagine in an ideal world, Simmons would eventually show enough to usurp him as the starter.
Granted, his knee injury might set him back a bit in that attempt with the Chiefs, perhaps playing the cautious approach when the offseason work begins, but Reid seems content with how things stand.
Kansas City has now made two solid moves to shore up what was the most problematic position on the roster, with Simmons, the franchise hopes, is the long-term solution.
