DENVER — It’s going to be a cold, unsettled Friday in Colorado before a warmer and drier weekend and next week.
A cold front and patchy fog could lead to some issues for the Colorado Rockies’ home opener at Coors Field Friday afternoon, with scattered rain and graupel showers, and perhaps a rumble of thunder or two as well. If you’re heading to 20th and Blake on Friday, bundle up.
The 9NEWS Weather Impact Team issued a Weather Impact Alert for Friday and Saturday morning.
A potentially heavier round of snow looks likely Friday night into Saturday morning. This could be especially impactful for the west Denver metro area above 6,000 feet, where 6 inches or more of snow are possible. That could lead to downed branches and trees because of the heavy, wet nature of the snow.
In Denver, look for potentially a trace to 2 inches of accumulation Friday night and Saturday morning, before clearing and warming temperatures into next week.
Denver could hit 70 or even 80 degrees next week under mostly sunny skies. So if you like the warm stuff, you don’t have long to wait.
