Chennai Super Kings became the first team to be ruled out of contention in the race for the IPL 2025 playoffs after a four-wicket defeat at home to Punjab Kings. The margin of defeat would’ve been much higher had PBKS not made a complete meal of chasing down six runs in the last two overs. (PTI)

Sam Curran finally found some form with the bat and pulled CSK out of the quagmire. Curran put up a 78-run stand off 50 balls for the fourth wicket with Dewald Brevis. He then scored most of the runs in a 46-run stand with Shivam Dube in 22 balls. Curran fell in the 18th over on 88 off 47 balls. (PTI)

CSK’s charge to 200 was brought to an abrupt halt by Yuzvendra Chahal in an extraordinary 19th over. He first dismissed MS Dhoni with the second ball of the over and then completed a hat-trick with wickets off the fourth, fifth and sixth deliveries. (PTI)
