Daisy Edgar-Jones is grateful for her costars.
While the actress, 26, spoke with Elle for the outlet’s April 2025 cover story published Tuesday, March 25, she shared her experiences working with scene partners like Paul Mescal, Glen Powell and Harris Dickinson in recent years.
“I have worked with basically all of the internet’s boyfriends, and I’m lucky that every actor I’ve worked with has been incredibly supportive of me being the lead. Glen, Sebastian, Paul, all of them,” Edgar-Jones said.
She received top billing in 2020’s Normal People series opposite Mescal, 29; she has also retained that lead actor status across movies like Fresh, in which she starred with Sebastian Stan, and 2024’s Twisters, which costarred Powell, 36.
“I think that’s why they’re so successful and so loved and so good: that they are so generous, and they really serve the story and are not serving themselves,” Edgar-Jones said. “Glen was always like, ‘What’s Kate’s journey in this? Let’s find it.’ And same with Sebastian. He was so completely invested in Noa’s journey.”

Edgar-Jones’ breakout role was in Normal People, in which she and Mescal portrayed two Irish young adults who hold a complicated romantic relationship. The pair have remained close friends since.
“Paul’s like playing tennis with your best friend,” she said of acting with Mescal. “I’m nervous for the point that it comes to working with someone who might not be so chill with it! Because there’s so much ego that can exist in this industry.”
Edgar-Jones now appears on-screen in the movie On Swift Horses, with Jacob Elordi and Will Poulter. She recently acted in a play in London, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, alongside Kinglsey Ben-Adir.

Back in May 2023, Variety reported that Edgar-Jones will costar with Andrew Garfield in a movie titled Voyagers, portraying famous astronomer Carl Sagan and his wife Ann Duyan.
“Just Timothée Chalamet and Austin Butler left,” she joked of popular young male actors she has yet to work with, elsewhere in the Elle interview.
On Swift Horses is in theaters April 25.
