Fortnite, renowned for its global popularity, has just faced its largest player count drop in history due to a significant technical issue, bringing the player count to zero. Players are growing increasingly impatient, and concerns are mounting about the impact on Fortnite’s standing in the gaming world if Epic Games does not resolve the issue promptly.

For years, Fortnite has been one of the most popular games in the industry, consistently attracting millions of players around the globe to play. That being said, despite this monumental popularity, Fortnite has just experienced their biggest dip in player count in history. A few hours ago, the player count dropped to zero due to a massive technical issue.

The Discovery Tab, which gives players options to choose game modes, completely broke, making the game unplayable. This unprecedented outage has affected the player experience, and while the player count has begun to recover, it still remains at a less-than-acceptable volume.

Never before have there been no active players in Fortnite. Since players were unable to matchmake, they had to exit the game altogether. There have been server issues before, but nothing like this.

The official Twitter handle of Fortnite Status , “We’re working to fix an issue where players are unable to matchmake or select games in the lobby. We’ll provide an update once this has been resolved.” Regardless of the assurance, the unknowns of the fix are further adding to player frustration.

Currently, Fortnite has seen a small resurgence in player count, somewhere around 140, and that number is fluctuating every moment. For perspective, from the millions of regular active players, this drop is catastrophic and alarming.

Players have been asking how long it will be until the game is once again fully functional and many are starting to feel very impatient. Some loyal players are still holding on and have faith, but others worry whether this will ultimately be a turning point for the game.

Engagement has been dropping the last few years with Fortnite, and this player-lost stimulus could get the ball rolling sooner than later if Epic Games does not remedy the player issues soon enough. If the matchmaking fails to work for too long, it is clear that Fortnite’s stronghold in the video game world will be in jeopardy.
