Kojima Productions premiered its first full trailer on Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, confirming a release date of June 26, 2025.
The baby is all grown up now! During the special Death Stranding 2: On The Beach panel at SXSW 2025 on Sunday, iconic developer Hideo Kojima and Kojima Productions dropped a ten-minute trailer that was visually stunning. The trailer confirmed a PS5 release date of June 26, 2025, and provided details on what is included in the Collector’s Edition versions. Kojima Productions also revealed they will be launching a music tour featuring music from both Death Stranding games beginning in November.
The trailer was ten minutes long, which was as visually shocking as it was confusing to the storylines shown on-screen. But this is the Kojima bread-and-butter of video game production. Fans of Elden Ring will notice the many hand/finger enemies and those who love Power Rangers Megazord or kaiju fights in general will be amazed to see what this trailer showed off.
With the SXSW 2025 festival in full swing down in Austin, Texas, it was no surprise that Kojima Productions would not hold back on giving audiences a treat for the reveal of Death Stranding 2. The panel broke down all of the versions of the game: the Digital Deluxe ($80) and Collector’s Edition versions of the PS5 sequel, which will include early access to the game on June 24th.
The Collector’s Edition will cost $230, which will include a 15-inch statue, Dollman figurine, art cards and a letter from Kojima, a digital version of the game, as well as various in-game rewards. Many commenters on the video were quick to spot that a Quokka custom hologram is a part of the pre-order bonus content. It is very cute, but it also begs more questions on how quokkas are involved in Death Stranding 2‘s story.
As for the music tour, Kojima Productions called it “Death Stranding: Strands of Harmony.” This tour will be in the following cities: Los Angeles, Austin, Chicago, Seattle, Newark, Boston, Toronto, Montreal, London, Paris, Berlin, Milan, Bangkok, Singapore, Seoul, Shanghai, Yokohama, Osaka, and Sydney. Tickets will be available on the official website.
Death Stranding 2 continues the story of its predecessor, with Norman Reedus as the protagonist, Sam Bridges with Léa Seydoux also returning as the character Fragile. Some big names added to this sequel include Tory Baker as the creepy-looking Higgs Monaghan, Elle Fanning as Tomorrow, director of the Mad Max films George Miller, Ma Dong-seok (Train to Busan, Eternals), Debra Wilson and Shioli Kutsuna, just to name a few.
