The Atlanta Braves and Diamondbacks begin a three-game series on Friday night in Phoenix and both clubs just released their lineups.
Against righty Zac Gallen, the Braves will employ their usual lineup these days with one interesting adjustment in the outfield. Eli White, who delivered a game-winning three-run homer on Wednesday afternoon, will start in right field in place of struggling Jarred Kelenic.
We will see if this is a one-game thing for manager Brian Snitker or if White has played himself into a starting role of some kind while Ronald Acuña Jr. continues to rehab. To be blunt, the bar to clear for White to see playing time isn’t exactly high.
Arizona native Alex Verdugo finds himself in left field after getting the previous game off. Sean Murphy catches, while Nick Allen starts at shortstop once again. Also of note: Ozzie Albies was dropped one spot in the order down to sixth. Can’t say I blame Brian Snitker for that adjustment with the way Albies has swung the bat lately.
The Diamondbacks roll out this righty-heavy lineup against Chris Sale:
First pitch from Chase Field is set for 9:40 p.m. ET. Get that pot of coffee (or other beverage of choice on a Friday night) ready to go.
