Millions of people have watched Ellen Pompeo as Dr. Meredith Grey in “Grey’s Anatomy” over the years.
But the actor isn’t quite ready for her younger daughter, Sienna, to watch her in the hit show ― for a very good reason.
“My 15-year-old has seen it. And now my 10-year-old wants to see it, which ― she’s not ready ― but a lot of kids in her class have seen it,” Pompeo said during an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” last week.
“No judgment on other parents, but I don’t want my daughter to see me in my underwear on television just yet, but all her classmates have, so!” she said, as the audience laughed. “That makes for great conversation at pickup.”
Pompeo and Kimmel also pointed out that “Grey’s” officially premiered 20 years ago this month, in March 2005.
Pompeo stepped back from the show in 2023, during Season 19 of the series, but has continued to make various appearances.
She’s spoken candidly about why she stayed on the hit show so long and admitted it essentially boils down to one thing: money.
“The best thing is the financial security, if I’m being very honest,” Pompeo said in an interview with People earlier this month.
“It’s been really lucrative, and I think financial security is not something that every actress is afforded,” she added. “So I’m very grateful for that.”
