Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya has won the toss and opted to bowl first against Kolkata Knight Riders in match No. 12 of IPL 2025, currently underway at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. For the first home match of the 18th edition of the world’s richest franchise cricket league, the five-time champions have made three changes to the playing XI. England all-rounder Will Jacks and uncapped Kerala spinner Vignesh Puthur are back for Mumbai Indians.
While Jacks has replaced Afghanistan spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman in the playing XI, 24-year-old Puthur is picked ahead of Robin Minz.
Punjab’s left-arm pacer Ashwani Kumar is also making his IPL debut for MI on Monday in place of Andhra Pradesh pacer Satyanarayana Raju.
But surprisingly, there’s no place for legendary Indian batter Rohit Sharma in the playing XI. Rohit is MI’s all-time leading run scorer in the IPL and has scored 1070 runs in the cash-rich league against KKR.
The former MI captain is, however, included in the impact player’s list and could come out to bat in the second half.
The visitors have also made one change to the playing XI. In place of England all-rounder Moeen Ali, Sunil Narine is back for the defending champions. Narine, who is KKR’s all-time leading wicket-taker in the IPL, missed the team’s last match against Rajasthan Royals due to illness. He will open the innings along with wicketkeeper-batter Quinton Kock.
