Lando Norris will start on pole for the season-opening Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne.
The Brit delivered a 1:15.096 around Albert Park in the final seconds of qualifying, to underline McLaren’s preseason promise and take top slot for Sunday’s grand prix.
He was 0.084 seconds ahead of his Australian teammate Oscar Piastri, making it a front row lockout for last year’s constructors champions.
Max Verstappen completed the top three for Red Bull with an equally impressive lap, while Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton could only manage P7 and P8 respectively.
Qualifying: 1 NOR, 2 PIA, 3 VER, 4 RUS, 5 TSU, 6 ALB, 7 LEC, 8 HAM, 9 GAS, 10 SAI.
