Detroit fire crews are responding to a blaze early Monday at an apartment building on the city’s west side that left residents displaced.
Officials remained on the scene near the 13000 block of Littlefield at 7 a.m. The flames appeared to have been extinguished and parts of the structure were charred. Authorities blocked off the front with yellow caution tape.
The incident was reported around 4 a.m. amid a possible explosion, WXYZ-TV (Channel 7) reported.
Chuck Simms, the city’s fire commissioner, told the station 12 people were rescued. Several of those were believed to have severe injuries.
