On April 14, former NFL quarterback Matt Hasselbeck announced the sudden death of his father, Don. He was 70 years old.
“It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of our father, Don Hasselbeck, who suffered cardiac arrest and passed away today. We want to thank our parents’ neighbors and all the medical professionals who came to his aid,” read the caption of a post shared on Instagram.
“He was a great husband, father, grandfather, friend, coach, player, coworker, artist, mentor, and storyteller. Despite being an All-American at Colorado and a Super Bowl Champion with the Raiders, what we are most proud of is the leader he was for our family,” the post continued.
Tim Hasselbeck’s wife, former View co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck, took to her Instagram Stories to react to the news.
“Jeremiah 17:7 But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD whose confidence is in him,” she captioned a post. She also shared some tributes from others before uploading a Daily Devotion about hope.
Meanwhile, dozens of comments poured in on social media.
“What a wonderful man. May he live on in all of you. Sending love and prayers to you and your family,” one person wrote.
“Prayers for you and the family. May he rest in peace,” someone else added.
“So sorry for your loss! Amazing person so kind and had the best stories,” a third comment read.
