Sony Pictures released the official trailer for the horror film Tuesday.

It opens with Madelyn Cline’s character relaxing in a bath while her partner is attacked by “The Fisherman” downstairs.
Clips of the iconic villain are shown, including his boots and hook.
Released more than 25 years after the original film’s debut, the plot for the upcoming film mirrors the first, following five friends who try to cover up their involvement following a deadly car accident.

“A year later, their past comes back to haunt them and they’re forced to confront a horrifying truth: someone knows what they did last summer… and is hell-bent on revenge,” the film’s official synopsis reads. “As one by one the friends are stalked by a killer, they discover this has happened before, and they turn to two survivors of the legendary Southport Massacre of 1997 for help.”
The two survivors, featured in the trailer, are Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jennifer Love Hewitt, who starred as Ray Bronson and Julie James, respectively, in the 1997 film and its 1998 sequel, “I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.”

“I just have one question,” Hewitt’s character says to Cline in the trailer. “What did you do last summer?”
The trailer also shows a photo of Sarah Michelle Gellar’s character from the original film, Helen Shivers, in a quick shot of her gravesite.
In addition to Cline, Prinze and Hewitt, the new film film stars Chase Sui Wonders, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers and Jonah Hauer-King.

Jennifer Kaytin Robinson directs the new “I Know What You Did Last Summer” from a screenplay she and Sam Lansky wrote. The screenplay is based on a story by Robinson and Leah McKendrick.
