Game Recap: Guardians Lose By Ten Twice in a Row

For the second game in a row, the Guardians trotted a position player out to the mound as the Minnesota Twins joined the Boston Red Sox in absolutely kicking the stuffing out of the Guardians, 11-1.

Yesterday, we had the positive of a Nolan Jones homer and an Angel Martinez walk. Today we have… two Carlos Santana singles. And Nolan Jones went 0 for 4 but did NOT strike out. Oh and Jakob Junis was good. That’s really about it.

Gavin Williams apparently did not want to go 7 days between starts because he couldn’t locate his pitches and left after two terrible innings. Paul Sewald left the game hurt with shoulder inflammation so that’s not good. I am not much of a Sewald believer but there isn’t anyone ready to take his spot in Columbus.

I have to mention that Brayan Rocchio looked just as disinterested in this game as any Cleveland fan watching could have looked. If only we were all paid as well to pay attention to the game as Rocchio was. It’s time for Rocchio and the other players on this roster to buckle down and find some fight. After a terrible effort yesterday, they responded with another embarrassing performance as Bailey Ober and his changeup made mincemeat of them, yet again.

Steven Kwan extended his hitting streak to 11, Gabriel Arias returned from a brief absence with a double and scored on that rarest of 2025 events- a Jhonkensy Noel hits. Right now, Jose is hitting singles and nothing else and Kyle Manzardo’s timing looks off. I would say it’s time for a roster shake-up, but Juan Brito is hurt so I don’t think that’s an option at the moment. The guys who are here are gonna have to figure things out.

Will Wilson pitched two innings and got a walk while batting as a pitcher. I kinda like what I have seen from Wilson so far and, hey, might as well give him some continued reps.

On Saturday at 4pm, the Guardians took game one from the Red Sox after having just taken two of three from the Yankees. Now, we all feel like they are the worst team in baseball. That’s baseball. Let’s hope we can find that Saturday at 4pm feeling again tomorrow.
