Garcelle Beauvais is saying goodbye to The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

The actress, 58, made the surprise announcement on Tuesday, March 25 that she was exiting Bravo’s long-running series, on which she has starred for the past five seasons.

“I have some news: I have decided to leave Beverly Hills,” Beauvais said in a video shared to her Instagram account. “It’s been a wild ride, some amazing things have happened, and some hard things have also happened — but it’s been a ride nevertheless.”

She went on to detail what motivated her to leave the reality hit, chalking it up to a combination of wanting to devote time to her sons and to focus on new projects.

Said Beauvais: “One of the reasons why I’m leaving is my family, my boys. Their last year of high school is next year and I want to be a part of that. And Jade is starting a new career and I want to be a part of that, too. And secondly, I have the most exciting projects that I am developing, producing and acting in — I can’t tell you anything now but you’ll know soon.”

Before ending her speech, she thanked everyone behind Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, including executive producer Andy Cohen, Bravo, NBC Universal, and the show’s production companies, Evolution and 32 Flavors. She thanked, too, “the producers, the crew, and of course, the ladies.”

“Andy Cohen says I can come back anytime, the door will always be open, so you never know, I might pop back in sometime,” she teased.

Beauvais wrapped by expressing her gratitude towards the viewers. “To the fans, I want to say thank you so much. You guys have cheered me on, supported me, and sometimes even fought for me or on my behalf,” Beauvais said. “It means a lot and I hope you guys will continue on this journey with me.”

“It’s not goodbye, it’s see you later,” she said. “So see you later.”

She captioned the video, “Cheers to the next chapter.”

News of Beauvais’ exit comes hours before the season 14 finale’s premiere. A three-part reunion trailer is expected to drop later, as well.

Bravo viewers first met Beauvais when she joined RHOBH in season 10, which began airing in April 2020. She made history as the first Black woman to join the cast of the Los Angeles-based series since its debut in October 2010.

Currently starring on the series alongside Beauvais are fellow Housewives Kyle Richards, Erika Girardi, Dorit Kemsley, Sutton Stracke and Bozoma Saint John. Kathy Hilton and Jennifer Tilly also appear, as Friends.

Prior to her turn on reality TV, Beauvais had a long career as a model and actress, gracing the cover of magazines and walking on runways worldwide before nabbing roles in sitcoms (The Jamie Foxx Show), dramas (NYPD Blue), and big-screen films (Coming to America, Coming 2 America, White House Down, Spider-Man: Homecoming and more).

No doubt the Bravo series helped catapult her career to another level. She spent two years as a co-host on The Real, before the daytime talk series wrapped production in 2022. That same year, she signed a first-look development deal with NBC Universal on behalf of her self-titled production company, and was cast in a role in Netflix’s Survival of the Thickest.

Beauvais has also been working closely with Lifetime as of late. She starred in two films for the network — Caught in His Web and Black Girl Missing — and is executive producing three other original films for the brand.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills airs Tuesdays (8 p.m. ET) on Bravo. Episodes air next day on Peacock.
