Not one, not two, not three, but FOUR Beatles biopics are currently in the works. Director Sam Mendes announced the official quadrilogy (?!) at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, along with the official release window of April 2028. All four films—featuring all four Beatles—will release in the span of one month.
If that’s not enough Beatlemania to scream about, the leading men are Paul Mescal (Gladiator II) as Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson (Babygirl) as John Lennon, Joseph Quinn (The Fantastic Four: First Steps) as George Harrison, and Barry Keoghan (Saltburn) as Ringo Starr. All four stars reportedly took to the stage at CinemaCon and recited lyrics from “Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band” before bowing in sync.
“We’re not just making one film about the Beatles—we’re making four,” Mendes announced. “Perhaps this is a chance to understand them a little more deeply.”
The four movies will likely intersect in a way we’ve rarely seen outside of superhero flicks. Each one will focus on the perspective of one of the four band members, though Sony has yet to announce whether the films will all release at the same time or if the films will stagger once a week throughout April 2028.
“You have to match the boldness of the idea with a bold release strategy,” Sony film head Tom Rothman told The Hollywood Reporter last year. “There hasn’t been an enterprise like this before, and you can’t think about it in traditional releasing terms.” Mendes added at CinemaCon that Rothman describes the four-film project as “the first binge-able theatrical experience.”

I’m not sure how much deeper there is to dig down in the Beatles well. Peter Jackson’s documentary series, The Beatles: Get Back, provided nearly eight hours worth of behind-the-scenes Beatles footage during the recording process for Let it Be. Plus, Martin Scorsese just produced a documentary for Disney+ on the band’s first days in America titled Beatles ’64.
And yet, I’m willing to bet that audiences would watch Barry Keoghan on the drums even if it arrived in a.gif file. Look at that image above, folks! Who could resist Paul Mescartney?
