Series: The Guardians went 5-1 against the Angels last year and lead 339-338 overall.
Guardians update (2-4): They’re coming off a three-game sweep by the Padres in which they were outscored 19-4. Jose Ramirez had five hits against the Angels last year, four for home runs. Williams has never faced them, while Bibee is 1-2 and Ortiz is 0-1 against the Angels.
Angels update (4-2): They had a four-game winning streak snapped by St. Louis on Wednesday. Mike Trout and Logan O’Hoppe lead the team with five RBI each. Soriano went 1-1 against the G’s last year. Luis Rengifo hit .471 (8 for 17) against them last year.
Injuries:
Guardians: RHP Shane Bieber (right elbow), RHP Trevor Stephen (right elbow), LHP James Means (left elbow), UT David Fry (right elbow), RHP Slade Cecconi (left oblique), LHP Sam Hentges (left shoulder) and LHP Erik Sabrowski (left elbow) will open the season on the injured list.
Angels: SS Zach Neto (right shoulder), RHP Sam Bachman (Thoracic outlet syndrome), 3B Anthony Rendon (left hip) and RHP Robert Stephenson (right elbow) are on the injured list.
