A shooter opened fire at an office building in Manhattan in New York City on Monday, leaving multiple casualties, officials said.
“The scene has been contained and the lone shooter is dead,” the New York Police Department posted to X.
New York Mayor Eric Adams confirmed that the gunman had been “neutralized”, adding that there were “multiple injuries.”
According to US media citing unnamed law enforcement sources, at least five people, including the shooter and an off-duty police officer, have died.
The office tower in midtown Manhattan houses some of the country’s top financial firms and the headquarters of the National Football League (NFL).
