WASHINGTON — Adam Sandler is back on the golf green in the latest “Happy Gilmore 2” trailer.
Netflix released a new trailer for the 1996 comedy sequel on Tuesday, which shows Sandler back in his iconic role alongside original movie stars Christopher McDonald, as Gilmore’s nemesis Shooter McGavin, and Julie Bowen as former PGA Tour publicist Virginia Venit.
The sequel will also feature a slate of celebrity cameos including Kansas City Chiefs’ Travis Kelce, Bad Bunny and Kid Cudi. Sandler’s daughters Sadie and Sunny will also star in the film.
Eminem was absent from the cast list released by Netflix despite Sandler confirming his cameo late last year.
Top golfers like Bryson DeChambeau, Scottie Scheffler, John Daly, Rory McIlroy and more also joined the cast for “Happy Gilmore 2.”
During the one minute and 45 second trailer, Gilmore appears to make his return to golf after several years.
“I haven’t swung a club in years,” Gilmore remarks in the trailer.
Sandler, who has been sprinkling easter eggs of the upcoming sequel, also posted the trailer to his Instagram.
The long-awaited sequel will hit Netflix on July 25, 2025.
“Happy Gilmore 2” is arriving more than three decades after the first film’s debut, which saw Sandler’s character win the Tour Championship.
The movie’s original creative team also made a return for the comedy sequel, the streaming service said Tuesday.
Netflix previously released a teaser trailer on Christmas Day before kickoff of the NFL’s big debut on the streaming platform. The December clip features Kelce, who appears to perhaps be playing a golf clubhouse staffer, remarking “It’s great to see you back, Mr. Gilmore.”
