Most eyes are on the Masters, but there’s still one more PGA Tour event to settle before the total focus is fully on Augusta National. Afterall, the winner of the Valero Texas Open, if not already invited, will earn the final invitation to the Masters. So there’s a big reason to pay attention.
Many of the big names have opted for rest, but there’s still plenty of star power at TPC San Antonion. They’re all playing for the $9.5 million purse, with the winner taking home $1.71 million, the same as last week’s Houston Open.

Akshay Bhatia returns to defend his title after winning in a playoff last year. Ludvig Aberg hasn’t played since missing the cut at the Players Championship but is in Texas this week. Patrick Cantlay, who played a huge role in Atlanta Drive winning the inaugural TGL championship a week ago, has two top-five finishes this season.
Jordan Spieth is always a big fan favorite, especially in his home state. The 2015 Masters champion won the Valero Texas Open in 2021. Hideki Matsuyama, Tommy Fleetwood and Keegan Bradley are among the other notables in the field.
Here’s the rundown of what each player will earn this week who makes the cut. Check back here Sunday after play is complete for updates.
