Highlights! Erosa Destroys Wobbly Elkins In Violent Stoppage
Featherweight Dan Ige vs. Sean Woodson threw down earlier tonight (Sat. April 12, 2025) live on ESPN+ pay-per-view inside UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. After a competitive pair of rounds, Ige rallied late and finished the fight via strikes.
The first couple rounds were similar. Woodson made use of his rangy build with feints and long jabs, sticking Ige on the outside. He never really let his hands go fully, however, which allowed Ige to stay in the fight. The Hawaiian found some success of his own with clubbing punches and chopping low kicks, but he still spent a lot of time hitting air.
After 10 minutes, Woodson seemed to have a slight edge in momentum, but it was really anyone’s fight. Early in the third, Ige forced control of the fight back into his corner with a left hand connection that stunned his opponent. Woodson backed off, but Ige followed him to the fence and teed off with body shots and more short hooks.
Woodson shot for a desperation takedown that was easily stuffed. As he grabbed onto the leg, Ige landed a quick series of hammerfists and punches. Somewhat surprisingly, the referee stopped the fight!

I’m not so sure about this stoppage, particularly given the stakes and Woodson’s position as a rising contender. Darren Elkins, an older veteran, was given a lot more chances and took much heavier punishment from a similar position before the referee intervened. Woodson was in a bad way, but he was still intelligently defending himself in my eyes.
What do you think of the stoppage?
